Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Shoaib Dastgir on Thursday said that provision of a conducive environment for business activities and resolution of issues being faced by the business community are the top priority of the Punjab Police.
“Every possible step will be taken with mutual consultation of business community and other stakeholders to improve law and order and community policing will be promoted to ensure smooth running of the wheel of economy.”
IGP Shoaib Dastgir was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Khidmat Markaz established at Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry to facilitate traders, on Thursday.
He said that business community has been vital playing role in the development since economy is the backbone of the country and the Khidmat Markaz has been set up to address different issues of the traders.
He further said that it is a matter of great satisfaction that from the Khidmat Markaz, not only business men but the common citizens will be benefitted. Moreover, he said that cooperation of business community under Public Private Partnership for safe City, model police station and other projects is the need of hour, which will ultimately lead to better service delivery to the public.
Citing an example of Turkey, the IGP said that one third vehicles under the use of Istanbul Police have been provided by business Community and we do not need vehicles but need such behaviour and attitude because it will not only enhance police performance but also strengthen the state.
LCCI President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh expressed gratitude to the IGP for the establishment of Khidmat Markaz and said that trade community now considers itself more secured and safe as compared to the past. He paid glowing tribute to sacrifices rendered by the Punjab Police in a war against terrorism and said that officers and officials of police have always performed the role of front line soldiers in every difficult time.
Vice president Mian Zahid Javed Ahmad, CCPO Lahore Zulfuqar Hameed, DIG (Operations) Ashfaq Khan and CTO Lahore capt (r) Hamad Abid also spoke on the occasion.
