Chief Justice Lahore High Court Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan has said that the fertile soil of Sialkot gave birth to a man like Allama Muhammad Iqbal Qalandar, who not only showed a bright hope to the Muslims of the subcontinent but also in any region of the world in any language, The reading of Iqbal has a strange charm on the personality of the readers, because Iqbal’s philosophy inspires for a dynamic character with wonderful humor and moving emotions.
He expressed these views while addressing a meeting of members of the Bar and Bench at District Hall Association Sialkot’s Iqbal Hall on Tuesday. Registrar Lahore High Court Bahadur Ali Khan, District and Sessions Judge Sialkot Ali Nawaz, President District Bar Association Syed Ali Najam Gilani, Secretary Usman Ali Mushtaq were also present.
He said that the people have a right to be given justice at their doorsteps and the decision to set up Banking, FIA and Anti-Terrorism Courts in Sialkot was taken to review the number of pending cases. Later we will write to the federal and provincial governments in this regard. There may be a delay in this regard
He said that my thinking and approach is the same as yours, I have a long association with this city. He said that the consumer court should be in the court and the Registrar Lahore High Court would contact the Chief Secretary Punjab for its transfer. He said that a letter has been written to the District and Sessions Judges across the province for the young lawyers to indicate the suitable place available for them in the courts for their chambers.
He said he will try to provide a better environment for young lawyers. Chief Justice Lahore High Court Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan said that due to Corona, during the last five months, the courts only dealt with urgent cases. He said that uninterrupted and speedy delivery of justice is the basic right of the people. He urged the bar and the bench to adopt case management and deal with the cases in compliance with all the requirements of law and justice and rectify the delay of last five months.
He said that the judges should set the dates keeping in view the legitimate problem of the lawyers and the client so that no such testimony (witness) or evidence would be left which would deprive the rightful claimant of his right. He said that he would not accept the request of Refusher on the cases remanded by the High Courts for two years and would review case to case. He said that lawyers should never bargain for the interests of their clients.
