94 shopkeepers arrested in crackdown on profiteers

District administration Peshawar arrested 94 persons during a crackdown on profiteers, overcharging of consumers and lack of official price list here on Wednesday.

The arrested profiteers were included butchers, milkmen, fruit sellers, grocers and others.

On the directives of Deputy Commissioner (DC), Khalid Mahmood, the officers of district administration are conducting raids in different bazaars to ensure the implementation of the officially issued price list and collectively arrested 94 profiteers from across the district.

The arrested profiteers were included 34 butchers, 18 milkmen and 42 other shopkeepers. Further legal proceedings were in progress against them.

Deputy Commissioner (DC), Khalid Mahmood has said that all necessary steps were being taken for the provision of cheap and quality edibles to people during the month of Ramazan.—APP
