The windstorm and rain claimed left eight people, including women and children, dead when roof of their house collapsed.
According to rescuers and police, the incident occurred in Basti Tariqabad area of Okara. The rescue workers said that the rescue operation was continued when this report was being filed.
According to rescue officials, the rescuers rushed to the site as soon as the incident was reported and started removing the debris.
The rescue teams are engaged in rescue operations while the injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital by ambulances. The entire neighborhood is in mourning over the tragic accident.
On the other hand, there are reports that a young man was killed in a lightning strike in Toba Tek Singh.
The deceased was identified as Nasir, a 30-year-old resident of Chak 482.
According to eyewitnesses, the man was watering fields when lightning struck him.
In other incidents, fires broke out due to strong winds at eight places in Minchinabad, including Mirzika, Achhangar, Mahmoodpur Lalika, Shehzad Nagar, Rahmonka and others.
