5th Int’l conference on sustainable energy technologies kicks off

The fifth two-day International Conference on stainable Energy Technologies commenced here Thursday at the US Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Energy USPCAS-E University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar.

Dr. Syed Sarfaraz Ali Shah, Advisor to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Planning & Development, Energy & Power and Minerals Development was the chief guest of the opening ceremony.

He said economics and energy are closely related to each other. Pakistan which is always facing the perception of ailing economy must work on energy consumption and reduce its dependence on fossil fuels that was adopted by the developed countries, he added.

“Pakistan is a land of pure / clean energy then why not to focus on pure and clean energy” he remarked. He referred to the COP 28th conference 2023 where the developed world has vowed to lessen its dependency on fossil fuels, adding, why not Pakistani engineers and professionals follow the same path and move towards sustainable development of the country.

He urged the experts to focus on renewable energy solutions and devise workable policies since Pakistan especially Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is blessed in renewable energy resource.

Prof. Dr. Qaisar Ali, Vice Chancellor UET Peshawar said, UET Peshawar through USPCAS is all set to work with government on solarization of public sector buildings.

He urged the government to work jointly on this project in future. Prof. Dr. Sahar Noor, Dean, Faculty of Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial Engineering highlighted the importance of investing in renewable energy sources forensuring benefits in the climate change and sustainable development.

Dr. Adnan Daud, Director USPCAS presented the overview of USPCAS.

He said we look forward for an inclusive policy and technology development in close collaboration with industry and government and work jointly for sustainable development in the renewable energy sector of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa& quot; he added. Later, conference souvenirs were presented to the chief guest.

As many as fifty research papers will be presented during the technical sessions during the conference.
