51pc bardana distributed, 25% wheat procurement target achieved: Aleem

Punjab Senior and Food Minister, Abdul Aleem Khan has said that wheat procurement drive in various districts across province is in full swing where 51% bardana distribution has been undertaken while the target of 25% procurement of wheat has been achieved so far.

Talking in this regard on Friday, Abdul Aleem Khan told that the Punjab government is giving the price of wheat to the farmers at the rate of Rs. 1800 per maund and the Food Department has so far procured 800,000 metric tonnes of wheat at this rate.

He added that wheat production in Punjab has improved this year while the procurement of wheat in Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan divisions, is on the rise.

He expressed the expectation that by grace of Allah Almighty, Punjab Food Department will achieve target of wheat procurement well in time.

He said that wheat would be provided to the flour mills as per the requirement of the citizens.

He said that reports were being received on daily basis regarding the procurement of wheat so that updates could be obtained from every district of the province.
