465 cases of Omicron reported in city


Coronavirus in Lahore as the positivity rate has now reached 7.5 per cent with 465 patients of the virus reported from the city during the last 24 hours alone on Monday.

However, no loss of life has been reported from the variant during the period under review.

Only a day ago, it was reported that the Omicron had started spreading its tentacles in Lahore as 44 new cases of the new variant were reported in the provincial capital on Sunday, taking the tally in the city to 286.

The fast-spreading variant which has already wreaked havoc in the USA, UK, France and other European countries has started unleashing its wrath in Pakistan as well.

On December 9, the first Omicron variant case was detected in Karachi by doctors at a private hospital.

According to the statistics released by NCOC, the country registered 1,649 new coronavirus cases along with three virus-related deaths.

After the addition of three new deaths, the toll has now surged to 28,972, which represents a ratio of 2.2 percent.

The positivity ratio of the coronavirus cases in Pakistan reaches 3.66 percent, as 1,649 new coronavirus cases emerged in the last 24 hours after conducting 45,002 tests. It takes the total cases tally to 1,305,707.
