Pakistan reported 2,417 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, the latest data from the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) shows.
There were 45 more casualties related to the deadly disease as death toll due to coronavirus reached 10,863 that represents a ratio of 2.1%.
The highest positivity rate of Covid-19 cases was recorded in Karachi at 15.97 per cent in the past 24 hours, the National Command and Operation Centre was informed on Friday.
While the countrywide positivity ratio stands at 5.99pc, the number of critically ill Covid-19 patients rose to 2,294 with 45 succumbing to the infection overnight. The second highest positivity ratio was witnessed in Peshawar (13.62pc).
According to the latest figures, 2,417 new coronavirus cases emerged in the last 24 hours after conducting 40,359 tests. It takes the total cases tally to 514,338 that returned positive after conducting 7,243,650 total tests so far.
The number of active cases in the country reached 33,869 with 2,294 patients in critical condition. There are 55percent patients on ventilators in Bahawalpur, 49% in Multan, 34percent in Lahore and 31percent in Islamabad.
There were 2,072 more recoveries recorded in the last 24 hours as the number of total recovered cases reached 469,306 with a 91.2% recovery rate.
Punjab, the most populous province of the country, has reported 661 new cases in last 24 hours taking the provincial tally to 147,953 with 10,814 active cases. The province reported 22 new virus-related death as the death toll reached 4,370. With 944 new recoveries, 132,769 patients have recovered from the virus in Punjab so far.
The most affected province Sindh has once again recorded 1,235 new cases taking the provincial tally to 231,953 with 17,424 active cases. The province reported 11 new deaths as the death toll reached 3,755. With 647 new recoveries, 210,774 patients have recovered from the virus in the province so far.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has recorded 342 new cases taking the tally to 62,719 with 3,420 active cases. The province reported 10 virus-related deaths as the death toll reached 1,762.
Balochistan has recorded another 27 new cases during the last 24 hours taking the tally to 18,515 with 305 active cases. The province reported one new virus-related death.
