A total of 386 candidates took the admission test for the University of Karachi’s (KU) Department of Visual Studies on Sunday. The two-hour written examination was conducted across nine rooms in KU’s economics and history departments. The university received 407 online applications for the 140 available seats in its four-year bachelor’s programs in fine arts and design, as well as the five-year bachelor of architecture program. Professor Dr. Shaista Tabassum, Dean of KU’s Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, alongside admissions in-charge Professor Dr. Saima Akhter, Visual Studies in-charge Syed Shamoon Haider, and other faculty and administrative members, closely monitored the test proceedings.
KU’s security and admissions staff assisted candidates, and designated waiting areas were provided for parents and guardians near the examination venue. The KU Medical Center staff and an ambulance were on standby to ensure safety. Professor Dr. Saima Akhter also announced that, per KU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Khalid Iraqi’s directive, the deadline for submitting online admission forms for entry test-based departments has been extended until Monday, November 11, 2024. She clarified that this is the final extension for applications. Eligible candidates can apply for programs such as B.E., BS (First Year and Third Year), B. Ed (Hons), Doctor of Pharmacy (morning and evening).
