The 29th International Mushaira of Saknan-e-Shahr Quaid is slated to captivate Karachi on Saturday, April 20, hosted at the Expo Center Karachi. This esteemed event will witness the participation of local and international poets, drawing thousands of poetry enthusiasts to the Mushaira.
Attendees can expect not only poetic performances but also stalls featuring books and food. Importantly, there will be no entry fee, and free parking facilities will be provided. Addressing a press conference at the press club, Secretary Shoaib Ahmed, along with Jamal Azhar, NadeemZafarSiddiqui, and others, unveiled the lineup of poets set to grace the Mushaira. The event will feature renowned poets such as Aqeel Danish from Britain, Basit Ali, Farah Iqbal, Khalid Irfan, and AtifTauqeer from Germany, among others. Notable figures from Pakistan, including Senator IrfanSiddiqui, AttaulHaqQasmi, and KhursheedRizvi, will also be in attendance. The Mushaira is anticipated to host a diverse array of poets from Karachi, including Prof. Sahar Ansari, Dr. PirzadaQasimRazaSiddiqui, and Javed Sabah, to name a few.
AmbreenHaseeb Amber, VijayaThani, and Agha Shirazi will oversee administrative duties, ensuring the smooth execution of the event. Acknowledging the significance of literary and cultural activities in Karachi, Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan emphasized the importance of the Mushaira in revitalizing social and literary engagement in the city. Karachi Press Club Secretary Shoaib Ahmad expressed gratitude for the representation of journalists in the Mushaira, reaffirming the club’s unwavering support for such cultural endeavors.
Dr. PirzadaQasimRazaSiddiqui, the founder of Saknan-e-Shehar Quaid, highlighted the Mushaira’s status as the largest poetry gathering in Pakistan, lauded for its international acclaim. He noted that the event serves as a platform for aspiring poets, with a pre-Mushaira competition providing opportunities for local talent. With the support of Commissioner Karachi, Mayor Karachi, Home Department, and other relevant institutions, the 29th International Mushaira promises to be a celebration of poetry and cultural exchange.
