ISLAMABAD – Ramadan is winding down as the third Ashra of the Holy Month starts and all eyes are on Eidul Fitr 2024.

Amid the anticipation, Met Office predicted greater chances of the Shawwal moon to be sighted across Pakistan on April 9 Tuesday this year and Eid will be celebrated on April 10 Wednesday.

In its prediction, PMD said the birth of the new moon will be on April 8 at 11:21 pm, and it is expected to be sighted on April 9 2024 at the time of sunset. The age of the moon will be 19-20 hours.

Ramadan 2024 in Pakistan

The Meteorology Department also forecasted that the moon will be visible for more than 50 minutes after sunset on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. Ramadan will last 29 days this year in Pakistan, with Eid-ul-Fitr likely to be celebrated on April 10, it said.

‘Chand Raat,’ the festive evening before the major Islamic festival is expected to be celebrated on April 9.

On Eid, the weather is expected to be clear in most parts of Pakistan, with some northern regions experiencing cloudy conditions.
