Secretary, Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Rawalpindi Mehr Ghulam Abbas, has conducted raids at various intercity transport routes and imposed fines besides impounding public transport over violation of keeping social distance.
The Secretary RTA along with others officials conducted raids and himself inspected 39 public transport vehicles during which 13 vehicles were challaned and 26 vehicles impounded. He also examined number of passengers on board and implementing government instructions to keep social distance during travelling.
Speaking on the occasion, he said under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Capt. R Anwar ul Haq, the officials of RTA are trying their best to ensure strict compliance of SoPs issued by provincial government with regard to prevention of Covid-19. Mehr Ghulam Abbas said that certain relaxations had been given in lock down for transport sector to extend all possible assistance to the travellers of public transport but their violation could not be tolerated at any cost.
Secretary RTA warned transporters to take care of keeping social distance and abiding the instructions about carrying passengers allowed in accordance with the specification of public vehicles and also observe all precautionary measures of Corona virus.
