Yango rolls out Smart Emergency Feature, transforming Ride-Hailing Safety in Pakistan

LAHORE – A groundbreaking move for Pakistan’s ride-hailing industry, Yango Ride, part of the global tech company Yango Group, has introduced a major safety advancement for both passengers and partner drivers. The company has partnered with the Punjab Safe City Authority (PSCA) to integrate the official 15 emergency police helpline directly into the Yango app, the first initiative of its kind in the country.

This integration sets a new standard for safety, accountability, and real-time emergency support in Pakistan’s ride-hailing ecosystem. Through the feature, customers can instantly contact the Emergency 15 line from within the Yango app, with calls routed to the Emergency Response Centre under a priority flag to ensure immediate attention in case of any unforeseen situations during a ride.

The system was carefully developed to address common challenges during emergencies, such as verbally sharing location details and vehicle information, which often delay response times. With the new integration, the following critical information is automatically transmitted to PSCA authorities as soon as a call is initiated, enabling rapid and accurate response:

  • User’s live geo-location (latitude/longitude)

  • User’s name, phone number, and credentials

  • Address from where the call is placed

  • Partner driver’s name, phone number, and credentials

  • Vehicle type, model, and registration number

  • Pickup and dropoff locations entered during booking

This automated data-sharing ensures authorities receive complete situational awareness, significantly reducing response times. Beyond police assistance, users can also access ambulance dispatch services and the Virtual Women Police Station, offering female passengers an additional layer of safety.

Miral Sharif, Country Head at Yango Pakistan, emphasized the importance of safety in ride-hailing:

“Safety is one of our top priorities, and we are always looking for ways to make ride-hailing in Pakistan safer. Collaboration with law enforcement and Safe City authorities is essential to building a secure mobility ecosystem. By integrating Emergency 15 with priority routing and live data sharing, we have taken a significant step toward ensuring rapid, reliable assistance during a ride via Yango.”

Representatives from PSCA welcomed the partnership, noting that digital access to Emergency 15 with automatic information-sharing aligns with their mission to enhance citizen safety and reduce emergency response times across Punjab.

Deputy Inspector General Ahsan Younas, CEO at PSCA, added:

“Our mission is to make every citizen feel safer on the road. The ability to receive verified information instantly through Yango’s system helps our operators act quickly and confidently in emergencies. We welcome this collaboration as an important step toward safer mobility for everyone. We are confident this will further strengthen public trust in law enforcement and emergency response systems.”

With this integration, Yango Ride not only enhances safety for its users but also sets a precedent for the ride-hailing sector in Pakistan, demonstrating how technology and law enforcement collaboration can deliver faster, smarter, and more reliable emergency response services.
