World Toilet Day

The World Toilet Day was celebrated a few days ago to foster awareness about clean toilets and work on health. Unfortunately in our country, in public places toilets are rarely available, if available, they are full of dirt. According to research that half of Pakistan’s population does not have safe toilets and 53 percent of women do not clean toilets. Besides this, the dirty toilets are causing a number of diseases. Non-availability of toilets is the main reason of destroying our beautiful face of cultural city and tourists are also facing several problems from dirty toilets. UNICEF also estimated that more than 40 million people in Pakistan do not have access to adequate toilets. Pakistan is the third largest country where people are compelled to defecate in the open. I request the authorities concerned to give a serious thought to this burning issue.
