LAHORE – Intensity of toxic smog will continue to increase gradually as dry weather is predicted in Lahore and the plains of Punjab on Friday night and the next two days.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan.
Under these conditions, dry weather is predicted in Lahore and most districts of the province on Friday night and the next two days. Cold weather is predicted in Murree and Galiyat.
Due to the persistent dry weather and stable atmospheric conditions, smog will likely persist with a further rise in its intensity in Lahore, Gujranwala, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Okara, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Khanewal, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur and Multan.
Experts have advised citizens to take precautionary measures to save themselves from smog-related hazards. Smog has caused a considerable increase in respiratory, eye and skin ailments. Extra care has been advised for the children, elderly and asthma patients.
Lahore’s minimum temperatures will likely remain between 17°C and 19°C on Saturday and Sunday and between 16°C and 18°C on Monday.
Meanwhile, dry weather prevailed in Lahore and most districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Cold weather prevailed in Murree and Galiyat. Smog persisted in Lahore and the plains of Punjab.
Murree remained the coldest place in Punjab, where the minimum temperature was recorded at 09°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 58 per cent.
In Lahore, the minimum temperature was recorded at 18°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 40 per cent.
