Ulema ensure constructive role during Moharram
Buzdar chairs meeting of leading religious scholars
The religious scholars during the meeting with Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar have unanimously announced that they will continue playing their role for national unity.
The meeting was held under the aegis of Department of Auqaf and Religious Affairs, Ittehad Ban-ul-Muslimeem Committee Punjab under the chair of Chief Minister Usman Buzdar through a unanimous statement.
The scholars said, ‘We assure the nation that we are fully aware of the requirements of national security and defense and would be standing united like a solid rock in case of need’. The religious scholars will adopt a positive and moderate approach in their sermons to avoid sectarianism. Islam also teaches about tolerance; therefore, religious scholars will stress for tolerance and national unity in their sermons and would also avoid any internal differences. Complete cooperation will be ensured with the administration especially during Moharram for maintaining peace.
The religious scholars have a consensus that no Muslim should be disheartened. We consider that religious-based terrorism and killing is against Islam and strongly condemns it. We would refrain from writing or any speech which may provoke or dishearten anybody. Pak Army is bravely continuing operation for dealing with terrorism and nation pays tributes to the bravery of martyred army officers and jawans.
The religious scholars will continue their role for the freedom of Kashmir along with the government. Revoking special status of recognized controversial area of Occupied Kashmir is a condemnable act and a grave conspiracy of India. Religious stratum fully supports the government strategy and nefarious Indian designs will not be allowed to succeed
