LAHORE – The University of Health Sciences (UHS) has approved the affiliation of the newly established Narowal Medical College, under which 100 MBBS seats will be offered for admission.

The decision was made by the Syndicate at the meeting held on Monday, with UHS Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Ahsan Waheed Rathore in the chair.

The Syndicate also approved reforms in the examination system for MD, MS, and MDS programs. Under the new rules, candidates who fail consecutively in eight attempts will be deemed ineligible to continue in the program. In addition, the pass mark criteria for examinations in these programs have also been revised.

Approvals were also granted for launching a BS Nutrition degree program at UHS, appointment of biomedical engineers and technicians, establishment of a dedicated section in the Registrar’s Office for statutory meetings, upgradation of the Degree Cell, and restructuring of the Examinations and Medical Education departments.

The meeting deliberated on and approved several academic, administrative, and teaching-related decisions. One of the key approvals granted by the Syndicate was the appointment of new teaching faculty members on the recommendations of the Selection Board. These appointments include one professor, six associate professors, 14 assistant professors, and four lecturers.
