In a devastating incident in Upper Chitral’s Torkho area, tragedy struck as Muhammad Ishaq, son of Zar Gul, lost his life under an avalanche while selflessly clearing debris from the Booni Bozand road near Istaro village. The heart-wrenching accident occurred as Ishaq diligently worked to open the road for traffic on a voluntary basis.
Local witnesses recount the harrowing event, highlighting Ishaq’s noble efforts to aid his community. Despite efforts to draw attention to the precarious condition of the road to the Communication and Works (C&W) department and relevant authorities, no actions were taken to alleviate the dangers posed by heavy boulders and debris. This negligence resulted in the tragic loss of a valuable life, leaving the community reeling with grief.
Questions arise regarding the responsibilities of the C&W department in maintaining and ensuring the safety of such vital routes.
