ISLAMABAD – A local court on Monday granted a four-day physical remand of the accused in the murder case of TikToker Sana Yousuf.
The District and Sessions Court in Islamabad conducted a hearing on the case, during which police presented the arrested suspect, Umar Hayat, before the court of Magistrate Muhammad Hafeez.
Earlier, the court had sent the accused to jail for an identification parade, which has now been completed. Upon his reappearance in court, the prosecution informed the judge that the suspect had been identified.
The police requested a seven-day physical remand, arguing that the accused had been identified by two individuals—his mother and paternal aunt. The prosecution further stated that the remand was necessary to recover the mobile phone and vehicle allegedly used in the crime.
However, the accused claimed he had already handed over his mobile phone to the police and requested the court to order a medical examination.
The court accepted the request for a medical check-up and issued the necessary directions.
The accused also told the court that he had no contact with his family and was unaware whether legal counsel would be arranged for him.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the court approved a four-day physical remand of Umar Hayat and directed police to present him again after the completion of the remand period.
