Sri Lanka former U-19 cricket Captain Dhammika Nirushna shot dead

COLOMBO –  Dhammika Nirushna, the former captain of Sri Lanka’s Under-19 cricket team, was fatally shot at his home late Tuesday night. He was 41 years old.

The  Sri Lankan police said that Nirushna was at his residence with his wife and two children when the attack occurred. The assailant reportedly used a 12-bore gun, shooting him in front of his family.

The police promptly reached the spot after receiving reports of the incident.

Nirushna’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to establish the precise cause of death.

Nirushna, who once led the Sri Lanka U-19 cricket team, is remembered for his contributions to the sport. His tragic death sent shockwaves throughout the nation and the cricket and sports world.

The motive for the murder is currently unknown, and a comprehensive investigation has been launched to uncover the circumstances surrounding the event.
