Sindh government has committed to completing the construction of 40 more stops for the People’s Bus Service within the next two months, by January 2025. A crucial meeting chaired by Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, with the participation of key officials including Secretary Transport Asad Zamin and Project Director Sohaib Shafiq, addressed the progress of the bus service and vehicle safety initiatives. Sharjeel Memon announced that 100 bus stops for the service have already been completed, and the remaining 40 are set to be finished in the coming months.
These modern bus stops will offer passengers comfortable seating and shelter, ensuring a more efficient and sustainable transport system in Karachi. In the same meeting, Memon emphasized the importance of vehicle fitness checks across Sindh. He stated that regular vehicle fitness inspections are necessary to enhance road safety, minimize accidents, and protect the environment by reducing emissions.
The senior minister called for the implementation of stringent fitness checks during vehicle registration, transfer, and tax payment processes, with annual inspections becoming mandatory for all vehicles. Memon stressed that vehicles failing to meet the fitness standards would face strict action to ensure public safety and environmental protection. The initiative aims to bring Sindh’s transport system up to modern, international standards, making it both safer and more sustainable.
