Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan expressed his wish to visit Pakistan and said he hoped to travel to Peshawar one day along with his children to show them his ancestral roots.
An old video clip of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and former Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar went viral again on social media, in which she was seen inviting the Bollywood star to visit Pakistan during a public event.
Addressing Shah Rukh Khan at the event, Hina Rabbani Khar said that the actor enjoyed immense popularity in Pakistan, similar to his fan following in India.
Responding to her remarks, Shah Rukh Khan said his family has historical roots in Peshawar and that members of his family still reside in the city’s historic Qissa Khwani area.
Qissa Khwani Bazaar, one of Peshawar’s most famous landmarks, is known for its centuries-old cultural heritage, traditional tea houses, chapli kebabs, tikka kebabs, dry fruits and its rich tradition of storytelling, giving the area a distinct identity.
Extending a formal invitation, the former foreign minister remarked that Shah Rukh Khan already had a strong reason to visit Peshawar. In response, the actor said, “Inshallah, I will definitely come. In fact, I want to bring my children there and show them my ancestral area. I have already visited the place myself.”
Shah Rukh Khan further shared that his father took him to Peshawar when he was 15 years old, and he visited the city again the following year. Shortly after that visit, his father passed away.

Recalling his memories, the actor revealed that some of the most cherished moments he spent with his father were in Peshawar and Swat. He added that he has travelled across several cities in Pakistan, including Lahore and Karachi, and expressed hope that he would be able to revisit these places with his children in the future.
The video has attracted widespread attention on social media, with many fans in Pakistan welcoming Shah Rukh Khan’s remarks and reiterating calls for greater cultural exchanges between Pakistan and India.
