ISLAMABAD – Chairman Senate of Pakistan and Founding Chairman of Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference ISC, Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani sai that Pakistan’s rice industry not only sustains millions of livelihoods but also stands as a symbol of the nation’s agricultural strength and global competitiveness.
He was speaking at a luncheon hosted by the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) on the sidelines of the ongoing Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference (ISC), bringing together key stakeholders from Pakistan’s rice sector, Senate chairman, and international delegates from various countries.
Senate Chairman Yousuf Raza Gillani graced the occasion as the chief guest.
The luncheon served as a platform to strengthen Pakistan’s trade relations and promote the country’s rice exports globally.
Gillani lauded REAP’s consistent efforts in promoting Pakistani rice in international markets, emphasizing the sector’s vital role in contributing to the national economy and enhancing the country’s agricultural export portfolio.
The Chairman of REAP, Malik Faisal Jahangir, in his address, welcomed the distinguished guests and international delegates, reaffirming REAP’s commitment to fostering stronger ties with global buyers and stakeholders. He noted that Pakistan’s rice, particularly its premium Basmati variety, continues to gain recognition across international markets for its superior quality, aroma, and taste.
He further added that REAP, in collaboration with the Government of Pakistan, remains dedicated to enhancing export potential through sustainable farming practices, innovation, and trade facilitation measures.
The luncheon brought together the Chairman Senate and the Founding Chairman of ISC, Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani, REAP representatives and International delegates from leading rice-importing countries, providing a valuable opportunity for dialogue, networking, and future collaboration.
The event concluded with an expression of appreciation to all participants for their continued support and contribution to Pakistan’s rice export sector.
