LAHORE – Australia’s tour of Pakistan, scheduled for early 2026, is likely to undergo alterations as both boards review the existing fixtures, sources confirmed on Monday.
According to officials familiar with the discussions, the three-match ODI series originally slated for March 13–19, 2026, is now unlikely to be played on those dates.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Cricket Australia (CA) are engaged in consultations to determine revised dates that better align with the international cricket calendar.
Sources said the boards are considering the possibility of staging all three ODIs after the conclusion of Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 11, given the scheduling congestion in March.
Despite the expected changes in the ODI leg, Australia’s T20I series in Pakistan remains on track.
The two sides are scheduled to play three T20 Internationals from January 30 to February 5, ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka. The series is being viewed as an important part of both teams’ World Cup preparations.
Cricket Australia CEO Todd Greenberg recently reiterated his board’s confidence in the Pakistan tour, describing it as a significant component of Australia’s cricket calendar. He said strong coordination between the two boards in both red-ball and white-ball formats had strengthened bilateral ties.
Greenberg added that Australia’s 2022 tour of Pakistan, the first in over two decades, was marked by exceptional hospitality and set a positive precedent for future bilateral engagements. He emphasised the need for continued cooperation to create more playing opportunities for both nations.
Pakistan’s most recent tour of Australia took place in November 2024, when Mohammad Rizwan led the national side to a historic 2–1 victory in the ODI series — Pakistan’s first ODI series win in Australia since 2002.
Australia, however, dominated the T20Is, completing a 3–0 series sweep.
