Punjab government appointed senior Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) officer Salman Ghani as the new Commissioner Rawalpindi. The post had remained vacant following the removal of Engineer Aamir Khattak.
Prior to his new assignment, Salman Ghani was serving as Secretary of the Public Prosecution Department, Government of the Punjab, where he oversaw departmental administration and policy implementation.
A seasoned civil servant, Salman Ghani brings vast experience in district administration, provincial governance, and federal public service. Throughout his career, he has held several key positions, including Deputy Commissioner Faisalabad, Additional Secretary (Drug Control), Special Secretary (Budget & Resources) in the Punjab Finance Department, Joint Secretary in the Economic Affairs Division, and Officer on Special Duty in the Establishment Division.
His professional background spans public policy, financial management, healthcare regulation, district administration, intergovernmental coordination, and administrative reforms. His experience at the district, provincial, and federal levels is expected to strengthen governance and administrative efficiency in the Rawalpindi Division.
The appointment comes as the Punjab government continues administrative reshuffling aimed at improving governance and public service delivery across the region.
