Sajjad Haider Khan Likely To Become New Foreign Office Spokesperson

ISLAMABAD – Seasoned diplomat Sajjad Haider Khan is likely to succeed Tahir Hussain Andrabi as new spokesperson for Foreign Office.

Sajjad Haider Khan is currently serving as Director General South Asia at the Foreign Office. His appointment as the new spokesperson is expected to be formally notified soon.

Reports said current Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi is expected to be appointed as Pakistan’s permanent representative to the United Nations.

Sajjad Haider Khan Profile

Sajjad Haider Khan is a senior Pakistani career diplomat from Gilgit-Baltistan who currently serves as Director General for South Asia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has been selected as the next spokesperson for Pakistan’s Foreign Office.

With more than two decades of experience in Pakistan’s Foreign Service, Khan has held key diplomatic assignments at missions in Germany, Hungary, Indonesia, Syria, and Belarus. He also served as Pakistan’s Ambassador to Belarus.

At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Khan has been involved in regional diplomacy and South Asian affairs in his capacity as Director General for South Asia. His extensive diplomatic experience and regional expertise are expected to inform his new role as Foreign Office spokesperson.

In October 2025, the federal government had appointed Dr Tahir Andrabi as new spokesman of the foreign ministry.
