All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter Convener Mahmood Ahmad Saghar has welcomed release of senior APHC leader, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq from his illegal house detention after four years.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Mahmood Ahmed Saghar in a statement in Islamabad urged the Indian government to also release all detained leaders, activists, youth and women, including Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Masarat Aalam Butt, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Aasiya Andrabi, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Dr Hameed Fayaz, Sharief Sartaj and Abdul Majeed Dar Almadni, languishing in different jails of India and the occupied territory on fabricated charges.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was put under house arrest at his Nigeen residence in Srinagar on August 5, 2019 — the day the BJP-led Indian government unconstitutionally and illegally abrogated the provisions of Article 370 / 35A and bifurcated the Jammu and Kashmir into union territories.

He urged India to shun military violence and might policies and political vendetta on Kashmir and resolve the Kashmir dispute as per the United Nations resolutions which will lead to peace, political and economic stability in the region.

Mahmood Ahmed Saghar called upon the Modi government to make a conducive atmosphere for the talks between India, Pakistan and Kashmiri leadership on Jammu and Kashmir.

He reiterated that they had always been in favour of meaningful talks for resolution of the Kashmir dispute. —KMS
