ISLAMABAD – Pakistani citizens will soon be able to get a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) entirely online through the National Police Bureau (NPB) as the initiative will simplify public services by replacing time-consuming manual procedures with a centralized digital platform.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi made the announcement during a visit to the National Police Bureau, where he presided over a high-level meeting on police reforms and service modernization. Naqvi approved the implementation of single nationwide Police Character Certificate system, ending the existing province-wise variations.
Once operational, applicants will be able to submit requests, track progress, and receive their certificates through the NPB’s online portal without making multiple visits to government offices.
Minister directed officials to prepare a unified national policy for issuing International Driving Permits (IDPs), ensuring that citizens across Pakistan follow the same procedure regardless of their province.
The digital service will improve transparency, shorten processing times, and make obtaining Police Clearance Certificates significantly easier for citizens nationwide.

National Police Bureau portal will provide a centralized online system for applying for Police Clearance Certificates, eliminating the need for lengthy paperwork and repeated office visits. The official verification document will be issued after police record checks. It confirms whether an individual has any criminal history and is frequently required for.

- Immigration and residency applications
- Visa processing
- Admission to foreign educational institutions
- International travel
- Other legal or official purposes
Required Documents
Applicants may need to upload:
- Valid CNIC or NICOP
- Passport copy (if applicable)
- Recent passport-size photograph
- Residential address proof, if requested
- Supporting documents explaining the purpose of the certificate, where required
Although some provincial police departments currently charge separate fees, for example, Punjab Police Khidmat Markaz charges Rs500 for Police Character Certificates, those rates will not apply to the National Police Bureau’s online system unless officially notified by the federal government.
