Randhawa Inspects Progress On Shaheen Chowk Underpass Project

CDA Chairman reviews progress on ‘Asan Khidmat Markaz’ construction

 

Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, on Tuesday visited the ongoing Shaheen Chowk Underpass project to review the pace of construction work aimed at easing traffic congestion in the federal capital.

During the visit, Randhawa was accompanied by Member Engineering, Syed Nafasat Raza, and other senior CDA officials.

The Chairman received a detailed briefing from the engineering team on the current progress, including excavation work which is said to be advancing rapidly.

Officials informed him that construction activities are being carried out around the clock to ensure the project is completed within the stipulated timeframe.

Emphasising timely delivery and quality assurance, the CDA Chairman directed that “the project must be completed according to its schedule, with no compromise on construction standards.”

He further instructed the Project Director and Resident Engineers to maintain strict supervision of all on-site work to ensure efficiency and safety.

Highlighting the project’s significance, Randhawa said the Shaheen Chowk Underpass would mark “a major milestone in eliminating traffic bottlenecks in Islamabad.”

He added that the new infrastructure would provide a signal-free route for commuters, particularly benefiting students and residents of nearby educational institutions and neighbourhoods.

The Shaheen Chowk Underpass is one of several infrastructure projects currently being undertaken by the CDA to improve mobility and reduce travel time across Islamabad’s main corridors. Meanwhile, Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Muhammad Ali Randhawa visited the ongoing construction of the ‘Asan Khidmat Markaz’ on Tuesday to assess progress.

He was accompanied by CDA Member Engineering, Syed Nafasat Raza, and other senior officials.

During the visit, officials briefed Randhawa on the work carried out so far, highlighting that plastering and masonry works are progressing swiftly, alongside the construction of washrooms and other facilities.

They emphasised that construction activities are ongoing around the clock to ensure the project is completed on schedule.

Commenting on the project, the CDA Chairman said, “Following the vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, we are committed to improving the delivery of services to Islamabad’s residents. The primary aim of the ‘Asan Khidmat Markaz’ is to provide citizens with multiple services under a single roof.”
