Pre-Smog Action Plan 2026
The Punjab government has instructed all public schools to adopt precautionary measures under the Pre-Smog Action Plan 2026 to safeguard students from unhealthy air during the upcoming smog season.
The School Education Department issued directions to schools in accordance with the provincial environmental authorities’ action plan covering July to September 2026.
Schools have been advised to reduce students’ exposure to outdoor pollution by restricting activities held outside school buildings. Administrations have also been directed to monitor the Air Quality Index (AQI) before permitting outdoor exercise, physical training or other activities.
At the same time, schools have been encouraged to arrange sports and physical activities in ways that minimise students’ exposure to polluted air.
The measures aim to protect students as air pollution levels potentially rise across Punjab during the smog season.
