LAHORE – Registration for the Punjab E-Taxi Program 2025 is now open as the provincial government has been taking measures to improve air quality across the province.
The electric taxi is initiative is part of the Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision of green and clean transport.
Last month, the chief minister approved in principle financial model of the e-taxi project in a meeting and it was agreed to launch a pilot project with 1100 e-taxis. It was also decided to install a solar power system for e-charging stations.
The meeting comprehensively reviewed the issues related to the e-taxi project. She was apprised in the briefing that the Punjab government will provide subsidy in the e-taxi scheme.
The Punjab E-Taxi Scheme is being executed by the Transport and Masstransit Department in collaboration with the Bank of Punjab.
Applications Invited
The transport department seeks applications from Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), their authorised local dealers, distributors, and joint ventures to register the models of electric car which meet the given minimum criteria.
Deadline
The department said the interested entities can submit the application for registration along with relevant documents till June 24, 2025.
The applications will be sent to the Transport and Mass Transit Department located at 11-A Egerton Road, Lahore.
Financing for Buyers
The provincial government will offer financing of up to Rs6.5 million per E-Taxi to the interested buyers for the period of five years. The government will also offer assistance for equity payment.
