Punjab has joined hands with a leading Dutch company to enhance workforce skills and strengthen capacity building across dairy and agriculture sectors.
The Punjab Skills Development Fund (PSDF) and FrieslandCampina Engro Pakistan Limited (FCEPL) signed an MoU through the Pakistan-Netherlands Dairy Development Centre (PNDDC).
PSDF Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Khan and FrieslandCampina’s Director Dairy Development for the Middle East, Pakistan and Africa, Syed Saud Ahmad Pasha, signed the MoU. PSDF’s Head of Digital and Green Programmes Akbar Hussain and FrieslandCampina Programme Manager Humera Iqbal were also present.
The collaboration aims to introduce market-oriented training programmes focusing on climate-smart agriculture, livestock management and dairy-related skills. The initiative will benefit dairy farmers, supply chain intermediaries and other stakeholders throughout Punjab by offering training through both in-person and digital platforms.
It will also draw on the expertise of local and international dairy and agricultural specialists to encourage the adoption of global best practices.
Ahmed Khan said Pakistan’s dairy and agriculture industries have significant potential for growth, but success depends on developing a workforce with internationally recognised skills. He said the partnership would help farmers and other stakeholders build the capabilities needed to succeed in a climate-resilient economy.
Syed Saud Ahmad Pasha said FrieslandCampina remains committed to introducing Dutch dairy expertise to Pakistan’s agriculture sector. He noted that the partnership with PSDF would help combine international knowledge with Pakistan’s agricultural potential to develop a skilled, future-ready dairy workforce.
Under the agreement, PSDF will provide technical support in competency-based training, including curriculum development, competency standards and quality assurance for training programmes.
FrieslandCampina will contribute its international expertise and research partnerships to facilitate knowledge sharing, technical assistance and wider outreach to programme beneficiaries.
The initiative aligns with PSDF’s broader strategy of preparing a workforce for the green economy by promoting sustainable farming practices, improving technical skills, increasing productivity and value addition, strengthening climate resilience, expanding export potential and creating better livelihood opportunities across Punjab.
