LAHORE – The Punjab government is expected to present its budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 on July 13, with no new taxes or increase in existing tax rates, a local private TV while quoting the official sources reported on Wednesday.

As per early budget outlines, education, health and tourism are expected to receive major boosts in funding.

The education budget, according to the reports, would see an increase of Rs110 billion, while the health sector will receive Rs90 billion more than last year.

The tourism budget is expected to grow by over 600% and reach an estimated Rs35 billion in a bid to promote domestic and international tourism in the province.

Additionally, the government plans to launch new sanitation and clean drinking water schemes across Punjab. A major health initiative includes the construction of 14 new hospitals in Lahore under the Nawaz Sharif Medical City project. The project would be executed through a public-private partnership (PPP) model.

The Punjab Finance Department, according to the report, finalized the budget strategy, keeping in mind the public relief and sectoral development.

The government aims to present a pro-poor, development-oriented, and investment-friendly budget without burdening the public with new taxation.

The final budget proposal is subject to approval by the provincial cabinet before it is formally presented in the Punjab Assembly.
