Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Sindh has established cold water camps across various areas of Karachi to provide relief to the citizens. Led by PTI Sindh’s Additional General Secretary RizwanNiazi, a notable camp was set up at NumaishChowrangi, where PTI leaders distributed cold water bottles and wet towels to the public.
The initiative saw the participation of prominent PTI figures including Sindh President HaleemAdil Sheikh, Karachi President Raja Azhar, RizwanNiazi, Jamal Siddiqui, Muhammad Ali Baloch, and Arsalan Khalid.
However, the setup faced resistance from local police, who attempted to dismantle the camp and removed PTI flags and banners. Despite the confrontation, PTI leaders continued their efforts to distribute water and provide relief to the citizens.
Addressing the media, HaleemAdil Sheikh highlighted the severe impact of the heatwave, stating that 714 people have lost their lives in the past seven days due to the extreme weather conditions. He criticized the prolonged power outages and inadequate water supply, attributing these issues to K-Electric and the Sindh government’s failure to address the situation.
“The intense heat and prolonged load shedding have made life unbearable for the public,” said HaleemAdil Sheikh. “Despite Karachi contributing 90% of Sindh’s taxes, the government fails to pay K-Electric’s bills, resulting in power cuts and water shortages.” Sheikh accused the government of neglecting Karachi, labeling them as “mandate thieves” who are indifferent to the city’s struggles.
He emphasized PTI’s commitment to the citizens, stating, “Karachi is our captain’s city, and its people are ours.” RizwanNiazi also called on the Sindh government to set up similar relief camps across the province and provide immediate shelter for homeless citizens affected by the heat. He assured that PTI would continue to establish such camps throughout Karachi to assist those in need and hinted at taking legal action over the heat-related deaths.
Raja Azhar echoed these sentiments, urging collective efforts to set up more camps and ensure relief reaches everyone affected by the severe heat.
