ISLAMABAD – Pakistani government summoned UK’s Acting High Commissioner over shocking protest outside Pakistani consulate in Bradford, where threatening remarks were made targeting the nation’s civilian and military leadership.
A viral clip shows woman surrounded by PTI flags allegedly declaring that someone should be “blown up in a car”, a statement Islamabad calls a blatant promotion of terrorism.
UK responded cautiously. A spokesperson from British High Commission said that police and prosecutors operate independently of the government, stating that any evidence suggesting a crime will be reviewed and could trigger a criminal investigation.
They urged Pakistan to provide all relevant material through proper channels.
The response comes as Pakistani government urged British authorities to take immediate legal action, warning that such threats cannot be tolerated, even on foreign soil. Minister of State for Interior Tallal Chaudhry condemned the remarks as violation of international and UK law, insisting that promoting terrorism is not protected as free speech.
Pakistani Ministers labeled PTI a “national security threat,” citing a history of attacks and threats against Pakistan’s security forces.
Pakistan already submitted extradition requests for YouTubers accused of spreading anti-Pakistan propaganda, signaling Islamabad’s zero-tolerance approach toward attacks on state institutions, even from abroad.
