The EU-Pakistan Friendship Federation Europe and the Pashtun Organisation Belgium (POB) jointly organised a protest in front of prominent European institutions in Brussels on Thursday against the ongoing atrocities in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

The protest was held on the occasion of International Human Rights Day observed on Friday. The day also marks the first anniversary of the EU Disinfo Lab report, which highlighted the Indian propaganda campaign against Pakistan.

A large number of Pakistanis living in Belgium took part in the protest led by the federation’s chairman Chaudhry Pervez Iqbal and the POB’s Naveed Akhtar.

Iqbal condemned Indian human rights violations in the besieged valley committed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government.

Protesters also held placards against fake Indian media outlets and the Indian armed forces in solidarity with the people of the occupied valley.

Chairman Iqbal and other participants urged the international community to play its role in resolving the dispute in accordance with UN resolutions

Demonstrators also demanded an investigation into the misinformation report and a ban on think-tanks and NGOs named in it.

Earlier. it was reported that European Commission Vice President Josep Borrell said that the EU is closely following the human rights situation in Jammu and Kashmir and stressed resolution of the dispute through dialogue.
