Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Congratulates Uzbek President on Re-Election, Expresses Commitment to Strengthen Bilateral Relations

ISLAMABAD- In a telephone call held earlier today, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his heartfelt congratulations to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan on his re-election in the presidential elections held on July 9, 2023. The Prime Minister emphasized that President Mirziyoyev’s re-election was a testament to the confidence placed in his leadership by the Uzbek people.

 

During the conversation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conveyed his strong belief that the existing bilateral relations between Pakistan and Uzbekistan would continue to flourish under President Mirziyoyev’s leadership. Both leaders expressed their commitment to further strengthen the ties between the two nations.

 

Highlighting the significance attached by Pakistan to its relations with Uzbekistan, the Prime Minister lauded the successful operationalization of the Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) and the Uzbekistan-Pakistan Transit Trade Agreement (UPTTA). He emphasized that these agreements would play a crucial role in boosting economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.

 

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev recalled their previous interactions in Samarkand and Astana, acknowledging the positive momentum in bilateral relations. They discussed the prospects of accelerating regional development and mutually agreed to explore new avenues of collaboration in various sectors, including energy, connectivity, agriculture, information technology, textiles, and logistics.

 

The Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to actively engage with Uzbekistan to promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the region. The call concluded on a positive note, with both leaders expressing their eagerness to work closely together for the mutual benefit of their countries.

 

The telephone call between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev highlights the importance Pakistan places on fostering strong bilateral relations with Uzbekistan.
