Deputy Commissioner Toqeer Ilyas Cheema directed the price control magistrates to take punitive action against profiteers and hoarders for providing relief to the people and contain artificial inflation in the district. He issued these directions while presiding over the meeting of Price Magistrates held to review performance of Price Control Magistrates and prices of edibles, on Friday.
DC said that profiteers did not deserve any concession at all who were looting the masses with both hands and committing artificial dearness to violate price lists issued by the district administration. He directed the Price Control Magistrates to imposed fines on those shopkeepers who were violating price lists and in case of repeated violations, not only get lodged FIRs with concern police stations but also arrest them on the spot.
He committed the consumers right would be protected at all cost and no compromise would be made to ensure provision of relief to the people under people friendly vision of the Punjab government.
The meeting was informed that Price Control Magistrates imposed fine of Rs. 18,40000/= to 345 shopkeepers for violating price list during this month in the district.
Meanwhile, District Education Authority Hafizabad established new Model Primary School at District Jail Colony Hafizabad. Chairman Education Authority/Deputy Commissioner Toqeer Ilyas Cheema, Superintendent Jail Abu Bakar Abdullah and CEO Education Authority Hafizabad inaugurated the school. DEO (SE) Abdul Majeed, DDEO (W) Hafizabad Nargis ARif, DDEO (W) Pindi Bhattian Sofia Jabeen, AEO Ishtiaq Nazir and Retired Headmistress Rahit Ayubbi Butt also attended the opening ceremony.
