A three-member delegation led by Sindh Minister for Information and Local Government Nasir Hussain Shah arrived at Bahadurabad, the headquarters of MuttahidaQaumi Movement (MQM) on Tuesday.
The delegation included Sindh Chief Minister’s Legal Adviser Barrister Murtaza Wahab and former Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon.
MQM’s newly elected Senator Faisal Sabzwari and MPA Kanwar Naveed Jamil welcomed the gathering.
Talking to media after an hour-long meeting, Nasir Shah said that on the special directive of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the PPP delegation has once again visited the MQM-P’s office.
We have congratulated the MQM-P on the election of Senators Faisal Sabzwari and KhaledaAteeb and requested for the support of Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani for the post of Chairman Senate.
“We are hopeful that the decision of the MQM-P Coordinating Committee will be in the interest of the province and Sindh. We will all have the opportunity to better serve the people of rural and urban Sindh.”
He said that many issues were discussed in detail in the meeting, especially the development and improvement of urban areas which are represented by MQM-P.
“Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s vision is development. He has given special instructions to Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and his team for indiscriminate development works everywhere and many development works have been done but there are some issues that need to be resolved.
There will be better progress on them and we will work together. He said that politically the doors are open and there is dialogue, this is the beauty of democracy.
The MQM did not support Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and our other candidates in the Senate elections but we have come to them again in the hope that they will support Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani to become the Chairman of the Senate.
Earlier, MQM senior deputy convener Aamir Khan said that PPP friends had come here today and congratulated the senators on their election as well as requested them to support Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani regarding the Senate chairman.
He said that we cannot take any decision immediately. “This matter will be placed in the coordination committee and whatever decision is takenwe will inform the PPP.”
He said the PPP delegation also agreed that apart from the Senate elections, we should work together for the betterment of Sindh, especially for the betterment of rural and urban areas. Our meetings will continue even after the elections.
If we represent the urban areas of Sindh, then the people here have problems with the new municipalities and local bodies.
We will also talk about all these things and will find a solution together. On this occasion, the MQM Kanwar Naveed Jameel, Deputy Convener of the Coordination Committee, KhwajaAzharul Hassan, Faisal Sabzwari, Muhammad Hussain, Rauf Siddiqui and Javed Hanif were also present.
