Police claim arrests of 9,000 PSs

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Usman Anwar has said that police have arrested 9,000 proclaimed offenders (POs) wanted in dacoity, robbery, murder and kidnapping for ransom in the last 40 days.

He said the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) conducted more than 200 intelligence-based operations, and arrested 47 terrorist and four militants were brought to justice. Dr Anwar said 22 hardened criminals who fired at the police during the confrontation met their end. He said that as 22 callous criminals, who fired at police, were killed and among them, three suspects were those involved in four incidents of dacoity and rape of women.

He said that among the arrested people 1,400 proclaimed offenders were of A category. He added that with the help of Interpol, eight offenders were extradited to Pakistan from abroad in the last two weeks, while many others were being extradited in the coming days.
