Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday expressed satisfaction over the progress achieved during the Bürgenstock talks between the United States and Iran under the Islamabad MoU.

In a message shared on X, he welcomed the “successful outcome” of the talks and reaffirmed Pakistan’s determination to continue playing an “honest and sincere” part in promoting diplomatic dialogue.

PM Shehbaz stated discussions took place in a constructive and positive environment, leading to encouraging developments that included an agreed roadmap aimed at securing a final agreement within the next 60 days, the formation of a senior-level committee to oversee political coordination, and the launch of additional technical-level discussions.

He praised the leadership of both the US and Iran for maintaining their commitment to meaningful engagement throughout the process. He also extended appreciation to friendly and brotherly nations that supported the diplomatic initiative, giving particular recognition to Qatar for its important contribution.

PM Shehbaz specifically thanked Qatar for helping create favourable conditions that allowed the negotiations to move forward, while also acknowledging the Swiss government for facilitating and hosting the talks.

He paid special tribute to Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir, crediting his efforts as instrumental in ensuring the success of the negotiations. He said Field Marshal Munir’s persistent efforts played a decisive role in achieving progress, adding that his dedication and commitment were vital to advancing the dialogue.

PM Shehbaz also thanked Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar along with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi for their contributions to the diplomatic process.

Concluding his statement, the PM said Pakistan would remain committed to supporting dialogue and diplomacy in pursuit of a peaceful and long-term resolution to regional conflicts.
