NA passes condemnation resolution against Imran Khan’s statement

Both the houses of parliament on Monday passed separately unanimous resolutions condemning the derogatory remarks by some leaders of India’s ruling party BJP about the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The legislators from both houses urged the international community to take notice of the plight of minorities, especially Muslims, in India. In this regard the UN, Muslim Ummah and the OIC should be contacted and take collective efforts to stop such statements against the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The resolution stated that blasphemous statement has caused immense grief and anger in Pakistan and the Muslim world. They were of the view that the two BJP’s leaders remarks are “totally unacceptable and have not only deeply hurt the sentiments of the people of Pakistan but of Muslims across the world”.

The legislators also expressed their deep concern about the alarming rise in communal violence and hatred against Muslims in India. “Muslims are being systematically stigmatized, marginalized and subjected to a well-orchestrated onslaught from radical Hindu mobs with full connivance and support of the security apparatus across various states in India. The growing mainstreaming of the reprehensible anti-Muslim sentiments and the increasing attempts at depriving the Muslims of their centuries-old places of worship citing frivolous historical claims are nothing but the obvious outcomes of the deep-seated Islamophobia in the Indian society.” In National Assembly, a resolution, moved by Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, demanded of the Indian Government to take stern action against the culprits and ensure that such incidents should not be repeated in future.

Senators Yousaf Raza Gillani, Kamil Ali Agha, Saifullah Niazi, Haji Hidayatullah, Attaur Rehman, Shibli Faraz, Danesh Kumar, Mushahid Hussain Syed and many others spoke on the occasion.

Meanwhile, the National Assembly adopted a resolution condemning PTI chief Imran Khan’s statement against the armed forces, Pakistan’s security and nuclear capability.
