Ambassador of Indonesia Adam M. Tugio while praising the positive trajectory of cooperation between Pakistan and Indonesia has identified potential areas for strengthening bilateral ties through institutional cooperation with the Association of South East Asian Nations .

This he suggested during an interactive session with students of the Iqra University, Islamabad campus.

The ambassador was visiting the university to motivate the students to apply for educational scholarships at Indonesian colleges and universities and learn from those Indonesian institutions majority of which are rated among the top 500 universities of the world, according to the QS World University Ranking 2021.

He also held discussion on global affairs and encouraged the students to study the history of the bilateral ties between the two brotherly nations, Indonesia and Pakistan.

The session was attended by Vice President of the Iqra University, Dr. Muhammad Islam, Senior Professors Dr. Shehryar Khan, faculty members, and students of the social science department.

Speaking about the importance of the East, Ambassador Tugio stated, “Many world’s renowned analysts and think tanks believe and rightly so, that the future of global economies lies in the East.”

Despite such strong projections, however, the Asia Pacific area receives less attention from academi-cians and think tank community in this capital, he said.

He urged that Pakistani academics and think tanks should focus on the economies of East Asia. Ambassador Tugio informed the students about the opportunities available through Indonesia’s scholar-ship programmes.

He also lauded the Iqra university’s brilliant young students, emphasizing that Pakistan’s youth have tremendous talent and promise in a variety of sec-tors.

President of the Iqra University Dr. Muhammad Islam hoped that the visit would open more doors particularly in the fields of research and business innovation development to beneficial cooperation with Indonesia, which is the largest member country in the ASEAN and has the world’s largest Muslim population.
