LONDON – Pakistan and the United Kingdom have agreed to strengthen cooperation across a range of sectors, with regional security and developments in the Middle East also discussed during high-level meetings in London.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held delegation-level talks with British Foreign Secretary during his visit to London. The British foreign secretary appreciated Pakistan’s role in efforts to promote peace in the Middle East.
The two sides also discussed the Indus Waters Treaty and the security situation in the region.
Ishaq Dar expressed concern over what he described as India’s continued violations of its international obligations. He also raised concerns over terrorism threats facing Pakistan from Afghanistan.
In a separate meeting, Dar met British National Security Adviser Jonathan Powell in London. The discussions covered regional developments and efforts to reduce tensions.
Dar said Pakistan would continue its diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions and pursuing an acceptable and sustainable solution to regional challenges.
The both sides reaffirmed the two countries’ commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation and maintaining close coordination on regional and international issues.
