LONDON – Some members of Pakistan’s cricket team have reportedly raised concerns over the quality and suitability of the Test kits provided to them during the ongoing tour of England, a local private TV reported on Tuesday.
The sources said that the kits supplied to the Pakistani players were not designed with England’s cold weather conditions in mind.
Players have reportedly complained that the jersey fabric is relatively thin, while some shirts have a tight fit. In addition, some players were allegedly not provided with kits in their correct sizes.
The issue reportedly became more noticeable during the first Test between Pakistan and England at Headingley in Leeds, where cold winds made conditions difficult for the players.
Some Pakistani cricketers were seen wearing woollen sweaters during the match, with pictures and videos of the players appearing on social media.
Sources said the players had expressed concerns about the quality, fitting and weather suitability of the kits, particularly given the conditions expected during the England tour.
Pakistan suffered a heavy defeat in the Headingley Test, losing by an innings and 103 runs on the third day.
The second Test between Pakistan and England is scheduled to begin at Lord’s on August 27.
Pakistan are expected to make changes to their playing XI for the second Test.
Babar Azam is likely to return to the team while wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan could be rested.
Fast bowler Ubaid Shah may also be given an opportunity as part of the team’s fast-track development plans.
