BRUSSELS – Pakistan earned international recognition for its contribution to cancer research, with two Pakistani researchers presenting their work at the 3rd edition of the Unite Explores Cancer Conference (UECC-2026) in Brussels, Belgium.
Held on September 7–8, 2026, the international conference brought together researchers, oncologists, physicians, pharmacists, professors, healthcare professionals and scientists from around the world to share the latest developments in cancer research, emerging technologies, clinical advancements and innovative approaches to oncology.
Representing Pakistan, Dr. Rabia Zulfiqar and Prof. Dr. Saima Bukhari participated virtually in the scientific programme and presented their research to an international audience.
Dr. Rabia Zulfiqar, affiliated with Dinkum Publishers, UK / King Edward Medical University, Pakistan, presented her research titled “Incidence and Risk Factors of Helicobacter pylori Infections Among Asymptomatic Pakistani Tobacco Consumers.” Her work highlighted an important area of cancer epidemiology and public health, focusing on Helicobacter pylori infections and associated risk factors among tobacco-consuming populations.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Saima Bukhari, Professor of Pharmacology at Ayub Medical College, Abbottabad, presented her research titled “Artificial Intelligence-Driven Precision Pharmacology for Personalized Cancer Therapy: A Systematic Review.” Her presentation examined the emerging role of artificial intelligence and precision pharmacology in developing more targeted and personalized approaches to cancer treatment.
The participation of the two Pakistani researchers highlighted the country’s growing contribution to the international scientific community, particularly in cancer epidemiology, public health, pharmacology, artificial intelligence and personalized cancer therapy.
Adding to Pakistan’s recognition at the conference, Dr. Rabia Zulfiqar received the prestigious “Best Presenter” title for her scientific presentation and contribution to the event. She was also awarded an official certificate of recognition.
The achievement marks is milestone in Dr. Zulfiqar’s research career and highlights the contribution of Pakistani researchers to international scientific dialogue, evidence-based healthcare and global collaboration in cancer research.
