OIC calls for ending rights abuses in Kashmir, Palestine

THE Organization of Islamic Cooperation has urged the UN Human Rights Council to address the hu-man rights’ violations of the people suffering from long-running disputes in Jammu and Kashmir, Pal-estine and Myanmar.

In a statement delivered on behalf of OIC at UN in Geneva, Pakistan’s Ambassador Khalil Hashmi urged the Council to implement the recommenda-tions addressed to it for Human Rights.

At the 47th foreign ministers’ conference in Niger, the OIC had demanded revocation of all ille-gal measures taken since August 5, 2019 including those designed to alter the demographic structure of the occupied territory and denial of rights of the Kashmiri people.

Khalil Hashmi said we remind the international community of its obligations to ensure the imple-mentation of UN Security Council resolutions on Jammu & Kashmir in fulfillment of the rights of the Kashmiri people.

The OIC also said that it remains gravely con-cerned over the continuing violations of interna-tional human rights and humanitarian laws in the Occupied Palestine Territory including East Jerusa-lem.—KMS
