No More Tiktoks In Uniform As Islamabad Police Tightens Social Media Rules

ISLAMABAD – The trends of police officers turning duty time into social media content may be coming to end in capital city. Under a new policy, Islamabad police force drawn firm line against TikToks, selfies, personal publicity and unauthorized online statements in uniform. with violators facing action.

Islamabad Police rolled out new social media policy, placing strict restrictions on officers and personnel of all ranks and effectively tightening the department’s grip on what its employees can post, share or say publicly online.

The new policy, approved by the Inspector General of Islamabad Police, takes immediate effect and prohibits police personnel from making videos or taking photographs while wearing their official uniforms.

Under the new rules, the police uniform cannot be used for personal publicity, fame, glamour or self-promotion. Officers and personnel found producing videos in uniform, whether inside official vehicles, police offices or even private locations, could face departmental action.

The policy goes beyond photographs and videos, placing restrictions on public communication as well. Police personnel will not be permitted to issue statements to the media without authorization, express views on public forums or write articles without the required approval.

The new directives also bar officers and personnel from using social media to express their personal, political or religious views. Departmental or confidential documents and photographs cannot be uploaded or shared on social media platforms.

The policy also establishes a formal approval mechanism for the department’s online presence. Any attempt to highlight the positive activities or achievements of the Islamabad Police on social media will require prior approval from the DIG Headquarters.

Information concerning police activities will be shared only through CPO’s Public Relations Branch, effectively centralising the department’s official communication. The new policy also puts responsibility directly on unit heads, who will be required to monitor the social media activities of personnel working under their command.

Officials found violating the policy will face strict departmental action, according to the directives. The move marks a major tightening of social media controls within the Islamabad Police, bringing personal online activity, public statements, uniform-related content and the dissemination of departmental information under a formal regulatory framework.
