ISLAMABAD – President Asif Ali Zardari warned that Pakistan will respond decisively to any threat from India. He praised Pakistan’s military leadership including Field Marshal Asim Munir for “restraint” during recent tensions and issued a stark warning to New Delhi.
“We appointed this lion hearted Army Chief who looked India straight in eye and gave befitting response to New Delhi and now Modi realized Pakistan knows how to defend itself,” Zardari said.
He added, “Be grateful that Pakistan showed restraint. We could have shot down all your aircraft, but Field Marshal Asim Munir and the Air Force Chief exercised restraint.”
Zardari further made it clear that Pakistan’s leadership stands united. “If any country dares to look at Pakistan with ill intent, remember this: Asif Zardari and the Pakistan Peoples Party are here with full strength.”

The 48-hour long military clash between Pakistan and India earlier this year added another chapter in history as eight aircraft were shot down during conflict. Two sides later opted for ceasefire after US President Donald Trumps’ intevention.
India however dismissed claim that the ceasefire was a direct result of Trump intervention or threats to sever trade negotiations. May conflict erupted after staged attack on tourists in Indian occupied Kashmir, which India falsely accused of Pakistan. Pakistan denied involvement and criticized India’s version as “replete with fabrications.”
During the four-day clash, both sides deployed fighter jets, missiles, artillery, and drones, resulting in dozens of casualties. Pakistan claimed it shot down seven Indian jets, including French-made Rafales, while India admitted to some losses but denied the six-plane claim.
PM Shehbaz Sharif, DG ISPR and other civil-military leaders confirmed that Pakistan Air Force destroyed seven Indian jets. Trump echoed this account, insisting that seven beautiful jets were indeed shot down during May 2025 escalation.
