ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif has directed party leaders to refrain from responding to recent remarks by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, stressing that the unity between the government and state institutions is crucial amid the country’s current challenges.
The sources said that Nawaz told senior party members that maintaining institutional coordination was in the national interest, particularly as Pakistan faces economic, political and security pressures.
The former prime minister’s message is being viewed within the party as an effort to prevent internal disagreements from developing into a wider political controversy at a time when the government is seeking stability and institutional coordination.
The PML-N president also advised party leaders to avoid any statement or action that could create an impression of differences between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s government and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
The directive reportedly came after senior PML-N figures conveyed their concerns to Nawaz Sharif over Naqvi’s remarks regarding the potential collapse of the existing system.
Nawaz urged party members to exercise restraint and avoid escalating the matter, saying the prevailing circumstances required greater political maturity and cooperation.
He maintained that preserving harmony among state institutions was essential for safeguarding national interests and dealing effectively with the country’s economic, political and security challenges.
